Friday, 15 December through Wednesday, 20 December, 2006
Using information from the the internet access, classroom activities, and laboratory experiences,
Students should be able to:
-take a mid-term exam.
-present and/or listen to science fair presentations.
-determine the properties of water.
-work on FCAT skills.
Our do now was a quick write: name as many sources of water as you can. Those classes taking the mid-term will not do the do-now.
Those classes taking the mid-term exam are reminded that a pencil is needed for the objective test. A mechanical pencil is best, as there are NO pencils sharpeners in the room. Students will have the entire block to complete the objective and essay portions of the exam.
Those students not taking the exam will work on the Zoom water project. Students will first learn more about water by viewing the BrainPop movies: water, water pollution, water cycle, and oceans. They can also view groundwater if they finish watching each of these movies AND the accompanying quizzes.
Access to BrainPop is found at:
www.brainpop.com for English speaking students. Students wishing to view the site in Spanish should visit es.brainpop.com but should be aware that there are not as many movies. Once on the site, click on the green science link. The movies are listed in alphabetical order.
The school user name is: campbelldrivemiddle
The password is: wildcats
Be sure to spell each correctly and use no spaces. We will continue our study of water by using Vernier probes to learn about pH and conductivity of water during the next class sessions.
The only home learning over the holiday is to begin a rock collection. You must find three unique rocks and bring them to class the first session after the holiday.
Since Wednesday is a straight day, it will be mid-term make-up day. There will be a sports jam for students present for all mid-term exams! See your home room teacher for your form. Take it to each class and your teachers will verify your presence for the mid-terms. Have fun!
